Frederick County, Virginia Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity (KSAT) Testing

This Summer 2016 project was completed to measure the percolation rate of water through a rock horizon. This percolation rate is measured using an Aardvark Constant Head Permeameter. This “wet test” is necessary when there is less than 18″ of soil between the pipe bottom dispersal area and a suspected impervious stratum. Hydraulic conductivity (KSAT) testing measures the amount of time it takes for the water column to drop one inch.  These calculations are a valuable variable in an engineer’s water mounding study.
