Clarke County, Virginia Perc Test For Septic System Construction Permit

Hadley Environmental Services was recently hired to locate a conventional onsite sewage disposal system for a vacant parcel in Clarke County, Virginia.  Bordering the Blue Ridge and Spout Run, a mixture of colluvial and alluvial soils dominate. The site & soil evaluation (perc test) included reviewing soil characteristics (depth to rock, water table, etc.), topography and required setbacks to locate a conventional trench septic system and reserve for the property. The soils packet and design will be submitted to the Clarke County Environmental Health Department for review.                                               While working, we took a break to enjoy October’s bounty of ripe paw paw fruit which we found along the banks of Spout Run. Looking down the creek, multi-colored leaves littered the rocky channel.                                                Being in Clarke County, code requirements are stricter than Virginia Department of Health (VDH) requirements. These regulations influenced the design calculations and system specifications of the septic system sites located.                                        ...
